Pukekura Park Boatshed Lawn Taranaki AIDS Memorial Tree since 1 December 1998
without names
Yesterday was World AIDS Day and here in New Plymouth we had a commemoration gathering at the Boat Shed Lawn, in Pukekura Park. This is a significant place, next to our Kowhai tree that was planted in 1998 to remember all of those throughout Taranaki who have died, or are living with HIV/AIDS. This year’s theme was ‘End Inequalities • End AIDS • End Pandemics’.

It was wonderful hearing stories from our past, political movements and what our future looks like. Thank you Louisa Wall MP, Fiona Clark and Josh McCormack for your fight and your voice. We were also blown away with the sweet sounds of Taranaki Singing Venture. Thanks to Pride Taranaki and Rainbow Youth for organising such a special gathering.
